Take advantage of the services and facilities in the Careers £ Employability Service that you can't when you are abroad. Try not to see career decision making as a final year activity or or something that you should put off until you have more time. The sooner you begin the more opportunities will be available to you immediately after graduation.
Many final year students tell us that they wished they had used our services earlier. The final year will pass quickly and many major employers have application deadlines soon after the beginning of the Autumn term. You need to start career planning early on in your time at Liverpool if you want to improve your chances of finding work that matches your strengths and aspirations. It takes time to understand what you have to offer and develop the skills and experience sought by employers. You may also need to gain work experience and acquire a broad knowledge of occupations, before deciding on your career direction.
We can help you to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and to develop your skills through work experience, vacation courses, part time jobs, volunteering or other spare-time activities.
We also work with employers, regionally, nationally and internationally, to promote the employability of our graduates and to encourage them to recruit you for vacation work, courses and placements, as well as graduate vacancies.
We provide lots of opportunities for you to meet employers at careers days, recruitment events and presentations.
After graduation we continue to offer careers guidance, information and vacancy lists to Liverpool graduates for up to five years after graduation,, whether you remain in Merseyside or leave the area.
